Teacher's Associations

A California Teacher Association has donated $1,000,000 to defeat Prop 8 (tradional marriage). Yes folks that is 1 MILLION dollars toward the defeat of Prop 8. According to ProtectMarriage.com, Prop 8 "contains the same 14 words that were previously approved in 2000 by over 61% of California voters: 'Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.'" According to CTA, this is an education issue because teachers are supposed to teach about equal rights for everyone. Many teachers are outraged that their dues are going to something that they are against and wonder if the money wouldn't be better off if the money went to the actual education of children. (Imagine that.)

This sort of thing is exactly the reason that government schools will not have my children this year (or any year in the forseeable future).

Yes, this is one of the MANY reasons none of my children will ever be in a public school.
Thank you for sharing this - that's so messed up. What's even more messed up is that all public school teachers, mandatorily HAVE to be in the teacher's union. So they are having part of their paycheck raped from them whether they want to or not, and then when a union strike, etc (something like this) goes on, they are foced into being a part of something they probably don't believe in anyway.
It's actually a reason I struggle with Christians being public school teachers. Unlike witnessing to others in a closed country, where you are your own person and can be jailed, fined or killed for your own beliefs, being a public school teacher actually requires you to align yourself with a system that is anti-God, even if you don't agree with what you are aligning yourself with. YET, I know there needs to be in there helping the lost, just as much as in a closed country. So I battle myself on this one.
Sorry to ramble! Your post gave me great thought-food!

GDC,
What you said about public school teachers reminds me of taxes that fund abortions. Whether we want to or not we are forced to pay for them.

You have given me food for thought.
